Art Classes
For an annual amount of R31200, you could help Pebbles provide:
- An experienced and enthusiastic art teacher to present weekly art lessons in one after-school club
- All art materials needed for the children to explore working with a range of medium (paints, brushes, paper, clay, modeling tools, etc)
- Art lessons linked to our Lifeskills themes, for example: My Life Dream, My Family, My Place in this World.
- Receiving a weekly art session to develop their creative skills and increase their knowledge of art
- Being able to produce artwork which they feel proud of and are able to exhibit in the club and at home
- Having the chance to excel in a non-academic way, perhaps we might even discover the next Picasso!
Drama Workshops
For a monthly amount of R14400 you could help Pebbles provide:
- Drama workshops for one group of After-School club children, presented by the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy
- Age-appropriate workshops aimed at specific groups to develop a range of skills
- Fun drama activities to enhance the dramatic development of children and help them to reach their potential
- Increased self-esteem and confidence
- Improved fluency in English and better communication skills
- Having the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team
- Having the chance to perform in front of an audience of family, friends and community members
Music Classes
For a one-off amount of R19000, you could help Pebbles provide:
- A specialist music teacher to present lessons in one after-school club
- Recorders and other instruments and equipment needed for a group of up to 20 children
- Fun lessons in small groups to play the recorder, learn to read music and singing sessions
- Having the opportunity to learn to play an instrument
- Improved listening and reading skills
- Having the chance to perform in front of an audience of family, friends and the community
Stationary Packs
For a one-off amount of R4800, you could help Pebbles provide:
- Complete stationery packs for one creche or after-school club, benefiting up to 34 children
- Having sufficient resources with which to learn
Toys & Games for Creches
For a monthly amount of R500 you could help Pebbles provide:
- Both educational and recreational toys for one creche on a wine farm or in a township
- Outdoor play equipment such as hoops, skipping ropes and balls
- Being able to play with new, quality toys
- Developing a range of skills such as hand-eye coordination, fine and gross motor skills
Renovations of Creches and After School Clubs
For a one-off amount of R15000, you could help Pebbles:
- Renovate or upgrade a créche or after-school club building, which may include painting, flooring, bathrooms, playgrounds.
- A clean and safe environment in which to learn and achieve
Educational Trips
For a monthly amount of R1000, you could help Pebbles provide:
- A monthly educational trip for a group of children from a wine farm / township créche or after-school club
- Learning more about their local environment and broadening their horizons
- Being educated about animals, nature and their heritage
- Having the opportunity to visit new and exciting venues that they would normally not have access to
Lifeskills & Lifestyle Workshops
For a one-off amount of R5400, you could help Pebbles provide:
- A six-week Lifeskills and Lifestyle workshop programme for a group of 10 girls in an after-school club, presented by an experienced specialist
- Education in lifeskills, entrepreneurship and self-esteem activities
- Learning to respect and look after their bodies
- Having the opportunity to share and support each other in a safe environment
- Increased awareness about contraceptives, drugs and alcohol abuse
Computer Equipment & Teachers
For an annual amount of R26 000, you could help Pebbles provide:
- Two computers for one after-school club for up to 34 children
- All the required software and equipment
- A qualified IT teacher for weekly lessons for a year
- Learning vital computer skills to assist their schoolwork and prepare them for adult life
Holiday Camps
For a one-off amount of R37 500 you could help Pebbles provide:
- A 5-day holiday camp for a group of 15 children
- A once-in-a-lifetime experience filled with activities such as kloofing, abseiling, swimming and games
- The chance to develop leadership and team-building skills
- Having the opportunity to explore the world outside of their normal environment
- Building their self-esteem, trust and independence through challenging and fun activities
Weekend Activities
For a monthly amount of R3000, you could help Pebbles provide:
- A fun-filled weekend programme for children living on wine farms
- A staff member to present sport, art, craft and music activities
- All the necessary resources and equipment for these activities
- Receiving fun, healthy and educational activities during the weekends
Alcohol Intervention Programme
For a one-off amount of R25000, you could help Pebbles provide:
- 80 individual intervention sessions, over a period of a month, presented by a qualified social worker
- Alcohol and drug awareness raising workshops focusing on women of child-bearing age and pregnant mothers
- Monitoring for alcohol-use disorders
- Reduced levels of alcohol abuse
- Reduced numbers of children born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
- Empowerment of women to take control of their lives
- Reduced levels of alcohol-related incidents of domestic violence
