EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT TEACHERS (CITRUSDAL)

The Pebbles Project Trust is a registered NPO that supports children, families and communities on the wine farms in and around Stellenbosch and Wellington, Citrusdal and in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.  The work of Pebbles consists of 5 main pillars: Education, Health, Nutrition, Protection and Community.

The Pebbles Project seeks to employ Educational Support Teachers for the Early Childhood Development and After-School Club Centres based in Citrusdal. This is a full day position (09h00-18h00), 5 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • “On-site” teaching in a collection of Early-Childhood Development and After-School Club centres
  • Administration and purchasing
  • Assistance with the Pebbles Project Early Childhood Development and After-School Club special needs educational programme
  • Ensuring the effective implementation of the Pebbles Project Early Childhood Development and After-School Club Programmes
  • Assistance with the development of the Pebbles Project Early Childhood and After-School Club Programmes
  • Assistance with the assessment and monitoring of the Pebbles Project ECD and ASC Programmes
  • Training of the Early Childhood Development and After-School Club staff

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • Teaching Degree or Diploma with 2-5 years’ relevant experience
  • Valid drivers license and own vehicle

SCHOOL MANAGER FOR PEBBLES ACADEMY HERMANUS

School Manager (Pebbles Academy)

The work of Pebbles consists of 5 main pillars: education, health, nutrition, protection and community.

The Pebbles Project seeks to employ a School Manager based in Hemel-en-Aarde at the Pebbles Academy. This is a full day position (07h30-15h30), 5 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Overall management of the Pebbles Academy.
• Overall management of the ECD programme at the Pebbles Hemel-en-Aarde Education Project.
• Teach Mathematics and EMS to learners in the Intermediate phase
• Facilitate extra mural activities when required to do so.
• Staff Management.
• Assist with Programme Implementation.
• Overall responsible for the travel logistics for the Pebbles HeA Education Project
• Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the FTD, ECD and other Pebbles Programmes

REQUIREMENTS:
• Teaching Degree or Diploma with 3-5 years’ relevant experience
• SACE registered
• Experience in teaching Mathematics and Economic and Management Sciences
• Experience in teaching Intermediate and Senior phase
• Valid drivers license and own vehicle

MATH PROGRAMME FACILITATOR (STELLENBOSCH)

The Pebbles Project Trust seeks to employ a Math Programme Facilitator based in Stellenbosch to form part of the After School Club Programme. This is a 3 year fixed term contract which will be revised thereafter based on funding.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist the Math Programme Coordinator with the implementation of the programme
• Tutor learners in specific course material and integrate study and learning strategies to promote independent learning (focus on Grades 1-7)
• Keep regular and accurate records of tutoring sessions using the appropriate forms and procedures and assist with report writing.
• To monitor and assess learners’ progress with appropriate planning and preparation, rewarding achievement and ensuring the best possible examination results.

• Teaching and; or Math Qualification
• 2-3 years’ experience in teaching or tutoring Mathematics

ORAL HYGIENIST/ DENTIST (STELLENBOSCH)

The Pebbles Project Trust seeks to employ an Oral Hygienist or Dentist based at our OWETHU clinic in Stellenbosch. This position will either be a part-time or full time role and can be negotiated.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (AMONG OTHERS):
• Assess patients
• Provide dental hygiene diagnosis
• Advise patients on a treatment plan and monitor patients
• Manage and implement Brushing Programme on relevant farms
• Do extractions, X-Rays and minor fillings

An exciting opportunity exists at the Pebbles Project Trust for a dynamic, innovative and motivated Fundraising Manager, based in Stellenbosch, to play an important role in spearheading the organisation’s fundraising initiatives while maintaining a funding base which is diverse and drives a long-term fundraising strategy to ensure a sustainable income for the organisation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of fundraising activities in an effort to promote the vision and image of the organisation. The candidate will also aim to grow the contribution of the existing stakeholders and forge new partnerships by successfully implementing a strategic direction in fundraising, communications and public relations.

Responsibilities:
• Work with the fundraising team to manage and maintain the organisation’s Fundraising and Marketing strategy
• Brand development & strategy; including identifying networking and profile raising opportunities for the organisation
• Monitoring, evaluating and reviewing fundraising strategies and objectives as needed
• Managing and coordinating various fundraising initiatives, including (but not limited to) proposal writing, sponsorship programmes and event planning
• Liaise with donors, volunteers, visitors and media
• Annual budgeting and forecasting
• Report back to the leadership team, trustees and donors on a quarterly basis or as required

Job requirements:
• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Three years’ experience in a similar role, including experience in budgeting and forecasting
• A proven track record in fundraising in a non-profit organisation or other institutions would be advantageous
• The ability to engage with and build a base of donors, from large to small in size, within the context of the organisation
• Fluent in English (essential) and in Afrikaans (useful), and excellent written/oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a great team
• Attention to detail, plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines to successfully deliver a variety of objectives and demands
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings occasionally
• A valid driving license and own reliable transport

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (STELLENBOSCH)

The Pebbles Kitchen is an award-winning social enterprise producing meals for children in education centres throughout the Cape Winelands. The Pebbles Kitchen is seeking to employ a Business Development Officer, to be based in Stellenbosch, commencing on a full time 12-month contract with possible renewal based on funding.

Summary of Duties:
• To generate new sales by increasing the number of partnerships and customers.
• To manage the financial reporting of the Kitchen, including monthly & quarterly reporting and annual budget production.
• Development of a strong food donation network .
• Fundraising for the Kitchen & Nutrition Programme through development of new partnerships and feeding initiatives.
Experience Required:
• At least 5 years experience in a sales or new business role, ideally in the food industry.
• A passion and interest in the feeding & education of children.
• Experience of the NPO sector would be useful, but not essential.
• Own car with valid driver’s licence.

The Pebbles Project seeks to employ a School Administrator in Hemel-en-Aarde at the Pebbles Academy. This is a full day position (07h30-15h30), 5 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Responsible for overseeing the administrative duties at the Academy at all levels.
• Monitor the school finances, including certain budgets and purchase school resources.
• Conduct teacher and staff evaluations, together with the principal, to ensure proper implementation of the curriculum.
• Represent and maintain the school image and reputation.
• Communicate with parents regarding individual requests or disciplinary issues.
• Take full responsibility of the enrollment and registration of the upcoming school year.
• Take full responsibility for the school and bus schedule.
• Ensure that the school complies with the relevant laws and regulations.
• Assist the HR Manager with HR queries when and if required.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Three years academic administrative experience.
• Two years experience in higher education.
• Excellent Written and Spoken Afrikaans and English.
• Reliable own vehicle and be prepared to use own vehicle for work purposes (travels will be reimbursed).
• Knowledge of WCED school programmes such as Cemis.
• Excellent computer, administration and organisational skills.
