The Pebbles Project Trust is a registered NPO that supports children, families and communities on the wine farms in and around Stellenbosch and Wellington, Citrusdal and in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.  The work of Pebbles consists of 5 main pillars: Education, Health, Nutrition, Protection and Community.

The Pebbles Project seeks to employ an Educational Support Teacher for the After-School Club based in Citrusdal. This is a full day position (09h00-18h00), 5 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • “On-site” teaching in a collection of After-School Club centres
  • Administration and purchasing
  • Assistance with the Pebbles Project After-School Club special needs educational programme
  • Ensuring the effective implementation of the Pebbles Project After-School Club Programmes
  • Assistance with the development of the Pebbles Project After-School Club Programmes
  • Assistance with the assessment and monitoring of the Pebbles Project ASC Programmes
  • Training of the After-School Club staff

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • Teaching Degree or Diploma with 2-5 years’ relevant experience
  • Valid drivers license and own vehicle

SCHOOL MANAGER FOR PEBBLES ACADEMY HERMANUS

The Pebbles Project seeks to employ a School Manager based in Hemel-en-Aarde at the Pebbles Academy. This is a full day position (07h30-15h30), 5 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Overall management of the Pebbles Academy.
• Overall management of the ECD programme at the Pebbles Hemel-en-Aarde Education Project.
• Teach Mathematics and EMS to learners in the Intermediate phase
• Facilitate extra mural activities when required to do so.
• Staff Management.
• Assist with Programme Implementation.
• Overall responsible for the travel logistics for the Pebbles HeA Education Project
• Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the FTD, ECD and other Pebbles Programmes

REQUIREMENTS:
• Teaching Degree or Diploma with 3-5 years’ relevant experience
• SACE registered
• Experience in teaching Mathematics and Economic and Management Sciences
• Experience in teaching Intermediate and Senior phase

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Presenting and explaining learning materials and educating students on new subjects.
• Implementation of the Impaq curriculum to help build knowledge and assess the students’ overall performance in a classroom.
• Assist with the Special Educational Needs Programme.
• Classroom management and take disciplinary action if needed.
• Be active in the school community and events when required to do so.

IT OFFICER (STELLENBOSCH)

IT OFFICER VACANCY (STELLENBOSCH)

The work of Pebbles consists of 5 main pillars: education, health, nutrition, protection and environment.

The Pebbles Project seeks to employ an IT Officer based in Stellenbosch. This is a full day position (08h00-17h00), 5 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Providing technical/IT support to Pebbles Project employees (across various offices)
• Installing hardware and software systems.
• Troubleshooting a variety of computer/printer issues.
• Setting up computer security measures.
• Assist in moving and setting up workstations at various facilities.
• Configuring computer networks.
• Offering technical support on-site or via phone/email.
• Provide Technical support to clinic system
• Set up new computers for new staff
• Update ASC computers
• Search for pornography and unwanted software on ASC workstations and remove/uninstall them.
• Remove and replace toners
• Assist, test and supervise in any new installations regarding internet and network.
• Provide technical assistance with internet related issues or call ISP to render the issue.
• Clean toner waste boxes in printers
• Test any new equipment and validate whether it is ready for ASC or ECD use.
• Set-up control and troubleshoot network.

Website support
• Edit and update information about the organization on the website
• Upload and edit (by adding coding) job vacancies onto the website
• Do basic editing to images before uploading them to the website.
• Install and set up appropriate server according to network requirements.
• Maintenance and security of server.
• Plan and research before server implementation whether hardware or software related.
• Organise back up initiative for server
• Arrange and take part in new system meetings to make sure the best options, according to budget and organisation’s needs, are chosen.
• Learn and understand any system added to the server to optimize support when needed.

Asset Management
• Overall responsible for the IT equipment and tracking of the assets
• Responsible for the check-in and check-out of assets

The work of Pebbles consists of 5 main pillars: education, health, nutrition, protection and community.

An exciting opportunity exists at the Pebbles Project Trust for a dynamic, innovative and motivated Fundraising Manager, based in Stellenbosch, to play an important role in spearheading the organisation’s fundraising initiatives while maintaining a funding base which is diverse and drives a long-term fundraising strategy to ensure a sustainable income for the organisation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of fundraising activities in an effort to promote the vision and image of the organisation. The candidate will also aim to grow the contribution of the existing stakeholders and forge new partnerships by successfully implementing a strategic direction in fundraising, communications and public relations.

Responsibilities:
• Work with the fundraising team to manage and maintain the organisation’s Fundraising and Marketing strategy
• Brand development & strategy; including identifying networking and profile raising opportunities for the organisation
• Monitoring, evaluating and reviewing fundraising strategies and objectives as needed
• Managing and coordinating various fundraising initiatives, including (but not limited to) proposal writing, sponsorship programmes and event planning
• Liaise with donors, volunteers, visitors and media
• Annual budgeting and forecasting
• Report back to the leadership team, trustees and donors on a quarterly basis or as required

Job requirements:
• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Three years’ experience in a similar role, including experience in budgeting and forecasting
• A proven track record in fundraising in a non-profit organisation or other institutions would be advantageous
• The ability to engage with and build a base of donors, from large to small in size, within the context of the organisation
• Fluent in English (essential) and in Afrikaans (useful), and excellent written/oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a great team
• Attention to detail, plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines to successfully deliver a variety of objectives and demands
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings occasionally
• A valid driving license and own reliable transport
• Available five days per week from 08h00 to 17h00.

The Pebbles Project seeks to employ a School Administrator in Hemel-en-Aarde at the Pebbles Academy. This is a full day position (07h30-15h30), 5 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Responsible for overseeing the administrative duties at the Academy at all levels.
• Monitor the school finances, including certain budgets and purchase school resources.
• Conduct teacher and staff evaluations, together with the principal, to ensure proper implementation of the curriculum.
• Represent and maintain the school image and reputation.
• Communicate with parents regarding individual requests or disciplinary issues.
• Take full responsibility of the enrollment and registration of the upcoming school year.
• Take full responsibility for the school and bus schedule.
• Ensure that the school complies with the relevant laws and regulations.
• Assist the HR Manager with HR queries when and if required.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Three years academic administrative experience.
• Two years experience in higher education.
• Excellent Written and Spoken Afrikaans and English.
• Reliable own vehicle and be prepared to use own vehicle for work purposes (travels will be reimbursed).
• Knowledge of WCED school programmes such as Cemis.
